The dining table is undoubtedly the focal point of the dining room. Today, the choice of tables is vast and caters to all tastes: square, rectangular, round, oval, extendable, fixed, etc.

Resin tables have become increasingly popular recently. They are highly appreciated for both their aesthetics and functionality, suitable for any setting, whether indoors or outdoors, and require little maintenance.

They come in a variety of shapes and sizes, from simple and affordable to unique, handcrafted pieces.

Types of resin tables

Resin tables, in addition to their pleasing aesthetic, guarantee excellent functionality and versatility. As with any other type of table, resin tables come in a wide variety of shapes: round, square, rectangular, and oval. Furthermore, they are available in a variety of colors and finishes, depending on your tastes and desires.
Among the most common, suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, are rectangular tables, with their simple lines and exceptionally comfortable to use.
More sophisticated and distinctive are indoor tables, where the meticulous craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology make each table unique and inimitable.

What is resin

Resin is a plastic material used in a variety of ways for all types of coatings. It is certainly known for being an excellent covering for stairs, walls, and floors. It is a synthetic polymer, with a more or less fluid consistency, making it suitable for application to any surface.
Once it comes into contact with air or light, the polymer solidifies, creating a harder, more compact surface that is completely smooth and water-repellent. Thanks to these material properties, resin tables are durable and, above all, easy to clean.

There are different types of resin: natural and artificial.
Natural resin: organic materials of plant origin. Transparent finish, insoluble in water and soluble in organic solvents. They are mostly used in insulation materials, soaps, and paints.
Artificial or synthetic resin: plastic substances obtained through polymerization or polycondensation. There are three types of this type:

Acrylic
Polyester
Epoxy

Advantages of resin tables

Choosing a resin table is a very advantageous choice: it is a product of high aesthetic and technological quality, durable over time and suitable for everyday use both indoors and outdoors.

The structural elements of a resin table

When making a resin table, it’s a good idea to include structural elements: for example, marble or quartz powders are added to make the top even harder and more compact.

Types of resin tables

Among the various types of resin tables, we find: wood and resin tables, resin and aluminum tables, and resin and metal tables.

Wood and resin tables are probably the most well-known and commercially available. The two materials can be combined in many ways, for example:

A table with a wooden top and a transparent resin coating for a glossy, uniform feel;
A table with a mixed wood and resin top, in which the resin is used as a finish inside the top. It can be inserted as a central strip or with lateral branches. A classic example is filling the irregular edges of a wooden table with resin.
The “rivers” technique, which involves creating table sections with a non-wooden support, has an elongated shape that cuts the surface in half, thus creating “edges.” The unique feature is that each table can be customized, not only in shape but also in color.

Resin and metal tables are the most popular in interior design. They consist of a block of resin molded into a mold and placed on metal frames that serve as a support surface. The perfect match for this type of table top is a metal leg: simple or more intricate, they add character and personality to the table.

How do you clean a resin table?

Cleaning these tables is really simple: a simple damp cloth with neutral soap is the best solution.

Cost of the resin table

Prices vary greatly, depending on size, materials, and the level of labor and craftsmanship involved. Prices range from around €1,000 for outdoor lamps, which are more standardized in size and shape, to €3,000-4,000 for unique pieces.
